Abstract

Pathological vaginal discharge can have an impact on adolescent girls because it will interfere with the function of the reproductive organs in adolescent girls. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving turmeric and tamarind drinks on the incidence of vaginal discharge in adolescent girls at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik. This study is a quantitative study with an Experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest research design approach. The population in this study was 38 adolescent female respondents with a sample size of 15 respondents. This study uses a non-probability sampling technique. The instruments in this study used observation sheets and checklists with analysis, namely logistic regression tests. The female adolescents in this study were mostly 14 years old, totaling 10 respondents (66.7%). A small number were 15 years old, totaling 5 respondents (33.3%), where of the 15 respondents experienced pathological vaginal discharge before being given the turmeric and tamarind drink and experienced physiological vaginal discharge as many as 0 (0.0%). The results of this study were that there was an effect after being given the turmeric and tamarind drink, 12 respondents (80.0%) experienced physiological vaginal discharge and 3 respondents (20.0%) experienced pathological vaginal discharge. Based on the logistic regression analysis, a p-value of 0.032 <0.05 was obtained, so H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. The results of the study found that there was an effect of giving turmeric and tamarind drinks on the incidence of vaginal discharge in female adolescents at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik.
