Abstract

Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) remain a global health challenge with significant impacts, especially on pregnant mothers and their fetuses. Transmission from mother to child can lead to various pregnancy complications, including miscarriages, premature births, congenital infections, and even infant mortality. This community service is aimed at increasing pregnant mothers' understanding of STDs and conducting early detection through triple elimination testing for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B. The activities took place in Bandar Setia Village, under the jurisdiction of the Percut Sei Tuan Health Center, Deli Serdang Regency, and involved 46 pregnant mothers. The methods used included counseling with leaflet media, measuring knowledge levels through pre-tests and post-tests, and examinations using rapid diagnostic tests. The results of the activities showed a significant increase in knowledge. Before the counseling, 21 participants (45.6%) had insufficient knowledge. After education was provided, there were 2 people (4.3%) who still had insufficient knowledge. The triple elimination test detected 2 pregnant women (4.3%) reactive to HIV, 8 people (17.3%) reactive to syphilis, 1 person (2.1%) reactive to hepatitis B, and 35 people (76.1%) with non-reactive results. These findings emphasize the importance of routine screening for pregnant women and the role of education in preventing vertical transmission of STIs. This activity provides evidence that reproductive health counseling and triple elimination testing are very effective in supporting efforts to eliminate STI transmission from mother to child. Ongoing synergy is required between health workers, community cadres, and educational institutions to broaden the scope of activities and ensure the sustainability of programs at the community level.
