Abstract

Anaemia is caused by a lack of iron in the daily diet, which immediately affects school-age adolescents and hampers their ability to participate in school activities. Nevertheless, this challenge might be surmounted by offering teenagers delectable jelly candies crafted from oranges and dates. The objective of this research was to assess the impact of administering jelly sweets derived from oranges and dates on elevating Haemoglobin (Hb) levels in female adolescents diagnosed with anaemia. The study used an experimental design, namely a one-group pretest-posttest with control group design technique. The sampling procedure included the use of simple random sampling, with a total of 30 respondents included in the sample. Utilising an independent sample t-test. This study used a research equipment consisting of an observation sheet and a GCHb tool. The mean haemoglobin levels in female adolescents were 3.40 gr/dL both before and after the study. A statistically significant p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) was achieved. The administration of orange and date-based jelly sweets has a positive impact on raising haemoglobin levels in female adolescents at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik. The administration of orange and date-based jelly candy has shown to be helpful in raising haemoglobin levels when ingested at a rate of 4 candies per day for a duration of 1 week. Orange and date-based jelly sweets may serve as a non-pharmacological therapy for treating anaemia.
