Abstract

The quality of nursing services remains an important issue that needs to be improved in hospitals. Hospitals have attempted to enhance service quality through various strategies, one of which is the use of technology. The purpose of this study was to review articles related to the use of technology in improving the quality of nursing care services. This study was conducted by searching four databases: ProQuest, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The search was carried out using the keywords: (technology OR "digital health" OR telehealth) AND implementation AND ("nursing care quality" OR "quality of nursing care" OR "patient care quality"). The inclusion criteria of this study focused on the implementation of technology in improving the quality of nursing care services. The quality of nursing care included assessments based on quality dimensions and clinical outcome indicators, such as patient safety, patient comfort, and patient satisfaction. The study design consisted of original quantitative research articles published within the last three years, from 2023 to 2026. The results of this study identified 8 articles discussing the implementation of technology in improving the quality of nursing care services. Two articles reported that the use of technology could improve the quality of nursing care in several units, such as neonatal and intensive care units. Two articles also described the utilization of technology in improving the quality of nursing care documentation. In addition, two articles highlighted improvements in nursing service quality related to patient safety, including infection prevention and fall risk reduction. Two other articles explained the impact of technology on patient comfort, particularly regarding anxiety levels and patient satisfaction, while one article discussed improvements in the dimensions of healthcare service quality. The implementation of technology can provide significant benefits in enhancing the sustainability of nursing service quality. However, the use of technology should still be balanced with efforts to strengthen direct nurse–patient relationships, as well as supported by training programs to maintain the effective functioning of the technology.
