PENGARUH TERAPI RENDAM KAKI AIR HANGAT TERHADAP PENURUNAN TEKANAN DARAH PADA LANSIA DENGAN HIPERTENSI

Abstract

One of the diseases that disrupts the system is hypertension. There is no cure for this disease. The only way to control it and maintain its stability is through treatment and care provided by professionals and self-care. Treatment of hypertension sufferers includes the use of drugs and non-pharmacological methods, such as soaking feet in warm water. This study aims to find out how warm water foot soak therapy has an impact on reducing blood pressure in elderly people suffering from hypertension at the UPT PSTW Khusnul Khotimah from the Riau Provincial Social Service. This study uses a quantitative method and uses a preexperimental design designed for one pretest-posttest group. In this study, the total sampling technique was used, and the sample consisted of 30 people. Warm water foot soak therapy was carried out for 6 days and the length of time needed during therapy was 10-15 minutes. The statistical test used was the Wilcoxon test. The results of the study showed that systolic blood pressure before warm water foot soak therapy was 152.50 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure was 100 mmHg. In contrast, systolic blood pressure after warm water foot soak therapy was 130 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure after therapy was 80 mmHg, with a p-value before foot soak of 0.000 and after foot soak of 0.000. It is expected that UPT PSTW Khusnul Khotimah from the Riau Provincial Social Service can use warm water foot soak as an alternative method to lower blood pressure in elderly people suffering from hypertension.
