HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN REMAJA TENTANG PERINEAL HYGIENE DENGAN PERILAKU PERINEAL HYGIENE SAAT MENSTRUASI

Abstract

Lack of understanding of reproductive organ hygiene can affect individual attitudes towards the implementation of perineal care in daily life. One of the impacts that can arise due to poor hygiene is the occurrence of infections in the female genital area caused by lack of attention to individual hygiene. This study aims to determine the relationship between adolescent knowledge about perineal hygiene and their behavior related to perineal hygiene during menstruation at SMPN 8 Pekanbaru. The type of research used is quantitative with a cross-sectional research design. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula with a sample size of 109 people, through a proportional random sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using the Pearson chi-square test for univariate and bivariate analysis. The results showed that most respondents obtained information about perineal hygiene from their parents, namely 81 people (74.3%), and the majority of respondents' parents had a final education of high school/vocational high school/Islamic high school, namely 49 people (45.0%). Most respondents had sufficient knowledge, namely 50 people (45.9%), and the majority also showed sufficient behavior, namely 89 people (81.7%). The results of the bivariate analysis with a p value of 0.001 (<0.05) showed a significant relationship between adolescent knowledge about perineal hygiene and their behavior during menstruation. It is hoped that the results of this study can provide an overview to schools to further support efforts to improve knowledge and behavior of adolescent girls related to perineal hygiene during menstruation in order to achieve optimal reproductive health
