The prevalence of stunting in the world is 22.3% and in South Kalimantan Province in 2022 it was
24.6%, down from the previous year, which was 30%. One of the factors of stunting is inadequate
nutritional intake. While indirect factors with stunting include parenting patterns related to
feeding practices. Feeding practices for children consist of providing breast milk, quality
additional food, preparing and providing nutritious food related to food variations containing five
important components (groups) consisting of carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals.
Food variations can prevent stunting by providing balanced and sufficient nutritional intake.
Mothers often do not provide a variety of foods for children. This study was conducted to analyze
the relationship between food variations at the age of 6-59 months with the incidence of stunting in
the Anjir Muara Health Center work area. This study was conducted in the Anjir Muara Health
Center Working Area using a cross-sectional design method. The population was all mothers who
had toddlers aged 6-59 months with Stunting as many as 31 people in 2023. Sampling was carried
out using the total sampling technique. The research instrument used food recall. The analysis
used was the Fisher Exact test analysis. Analysis of food variations at the age of 6-59 months with
the incidence of stunting in the Anjir Muara Health Center Working Area was seen in the Fisher
Exact test obtained a p value of 0.012 with food variations according to the category of short
toddlers as many as 17 (54.8%) toddlers while toddlers with inappropriate food variations had a
nutritional status of very short toddlers as many as 7 people (22.6%). This study shows that there
is a relationship between food variations at the age of 6-59 months with the incidence of stunting
in the Anjir Muara Health Center Working Area. It is recommended that counseling related to
food variations can be maximized by health workers to parents of toddlers.
