Abstract

Inside the production area/line, or better known as the factory, there are many materials that are the raw materials and fuel for the PTX machines. Areas outside the factory often have tools and work equipment where they are needed, not properly stored. The purpose of this survey is to determine the worker's knowledge of his 5R implementation and safety in the production area of PT X Batam City. The survey was conducted in all production areas of PTX with 12 of her workers as respondents. The survey found that 67.7% or up to 7 respondents, had a good level of knowledge about the 5R and safety and 32.4% or 5 respondents had a low level. As for the results of observations of the application of 5R at PT X, it is known that Sort as much as 75%, Set in Order as much as 65%, Shine as much as 100%, Standarize as much as 67%, and Sustain as much as 70%. Observation of unsafe situations and unsafe behaviors shows that although safety management is good, workers' awareness of work and safety conditions is still low due to the long work hours and experience in the field.
